Field trip

A two-day field trip will first take you to an 8-year-old hybrid poplar plantation New Liskeard, ON, then to a silvicultural trial in mature aspen forests at Duparquet.
On day two, you will enter an active gold mining site where mine wastes were reclaimed with poplars and willows and lastly to a closed mining site where wastes where naturally and artificially reclaimed by poplars and willows.

This year and for the second time in history, the annual meeting of the Poplar and Willow Council of Canada will take place in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region of north western Quebec. Participants will be hosted at the Lake Duparquet Research and Teaching Forest research station link of Université du Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, 15-18th September 2015. Between 20-30 participants are expected, to discuss poplar and willow management in natural forest and reclamation contexts. The objective of this meeting is to create discussion and networking opportunities during a day of conferences and 2 days of field trips. The number of places is limited, so please register early!
